why if my college email is in use already for apple music, i cant us it?

me and my brother both use my apple ID, but my school ID is use for my apple music and I'm a college student so I'm wondering how can I get on it and use the 4.99 plan if its already in use. I don't recall using it but if i did i should still be able to log onto it but its not letting me.
