When you buy a ring tone how long do they last before that purchase expires?

When you buy ringtones how long do they last before that purchase expires?

I haven't been able to figure out the time frame yet. For the second time in about five years ALL of my purchased ring tones have vanished from my iPhone.

I go to the app store and locate the ring tones again. The app store advises me that I have already purchased this ring tone, and do I want to buy it again?

I answer "Yes", and pay, because what other choice do I have to get my ringtones back again?

They do not "expire". They can not, however, be re-downloaded for free (music can, tones can not... they are licensed differently).

After purchasing them, if purchasing on your phone, make sure you import the purchased items to the iTunes library on your computer. Having done so, you can sync them back to your phone at any time.

I restored my iPhone from the backup on my Mac. All of the purchase tones are gone. Any other ideas?

When I do the backup, I backed up everything.

They are not part of the backup. You must "Transfer Purchased Items" to iTunes from the phone to get them in your library.

Thanks for your help. When I went into iTunes on my Mac Pro and checked, "Sync Tones" they came back on my iphone. Why they went away in the first place I do not know.
