iPad external keyboard blinking and not connecting

i Have not done this before. But to the question and an answer re IPad external keyboard not connecting, I did find help in the discussion. Someone suggested going to the Bluetooth connection and starting again. Then the keyboard did how up and with some repeated attempts, I was able to enter the 4 digit code to get the keyboard paired.
