iPod stuck on white screen

I turned my iPod on today and the screen is all white with no text and I can't get it to change, turn off, or do anything except display a totally white screen. When I plugged it into iTunes it told me that the iPod is corrupted and I need to restore it but when I tried to restore factory settings it ended in failure because "the requested resource wasn't available."

Whats wrong with my iPod and how do i fix it?
