Can you transmit MIDI Input and Output via EWI 5000?

I would like to use the factory preset sounds from the EWI 5000 while sending MIDI data instead of having to use a virtual instrument plugin. Is this possible? I know that the MIDI port on the EWI is only an output, but when connecting the MIDI USB I feel like this should be possible.

Please help. Thank you.

Please see info below in yellow.

The line out 1/4" jack needs to be connected to an audio interface so the audio output of the EWI can be brought into Logic, monitored and recorded if desired.

Midi and Audio are two different protocols... Your midi integration with Logic appears to be working if you can record midi and play back midi such that you hear the sound from the EWI (via headphones).... now you just need to get the analog sound output into Logic -

1. 1/4" audio cable from EWI to the input of an audio interface

2. audio interface setup and selected in the preferences audio ( inputs )

3. either use the external instrument plugin on a midi track or create a second audio track ( with correct input selected)

utilizing the analog output of the EWI.

Hello,

Thanks for the response. I have tried this, and the MIDI data was being input when I played, and I could only hear the audio if I plugged in headphones directly to the EWI. When I plugged headphones into the computer there was no sound. I checked my output and that was fine. I had the channel set to 1 for both the track and on the instrument. It's as if the data is being input without an instrument attached.
