Boot Camp Assistant Win 7 Pro 64 Bit SP1 U iso installation on MacBook Air 6.1

Hello Apple Community,

Again I am suffering with the Mac Book Air. I bought my Girlfriend a Mac Book Air Mid 2013 13' with Maverics OSX 10.95. Because she does not come along with OSX and she needs Windows software I wanted to Install Windows 7 on here Mac.

Windows 10 I tried with Boot Camp before on my Mac and this worked in contrast really easy. But Windows 10 she does not like so it shell be Windows 7.

So I tried to generate a BootStick (USB 2.0 Stick) with Boot Camp on my Mac (also a Mac Book Air Mid 2013 but 11' with OSX 10.95) with a Isofile from Windows 7 professional 64bit SP1 U (Media Refresh) (X17-59885.iso).

I tried several times an clicked the first 2 checkboxes and I tried with clicking all 3 checkcboxes.

Because I did not want to use the Stick on my Mac I did not change any of the partitions on my Drive an I finished the Boot Camp Assistent at this point.

In all case when I tried to boot from the BootStick with alt/option key It booted correctly. But on the windows 7 installation prompt where you can choose your language I had no opportunity to use my Track Pad, no Mouse pointer was visible on the Screen an also from the Keyboard from my Mac there was no input. I Had to restart the Mac with the Power Button.

I tried with a wired Mouse but also the same problem.

The download of Boot Camp Drivers happened with a wired connection.

I also tried to download the Bootcamp driver separate an copie them to the USB Drive. Also this did not work.

any Ideas? Did I do something wrong?

Hi Loner,

I some how managed with the windows 7 flash drive and bootcampassistent

all worked fine until the second reboot after installation.

- This time I generated the flash drive on the Mac I wanted to Install windows and I did not stop the BC Assistant when it came to partitioning the SSD (Intern HD).

I again selected all tasks at the BC Startup

-

I added the Boot Camp Drivers (not manually like recommended)

And I partitioned the drive.

After partitioning the mac starts to boots by it self new.

I don't know but It seems that maybe some files are copied to the new partitioned drive and the Mac does not boot directly from the USB flash drive. In this case I could use trackpad and keyboard with no problems.

But when I try to boot again directly from the same generated USB flash drive the same problem occurs again no trackpad and keyboard are usable!??

Nevertheless I could not finish Windows 7 install properly. I formatted the partitioned BootCampDrive and Installed Windows 7 all worked fine but...........

After reboot came a message on the black bootscreen

Error starting Windows

Take your Windows installation Disk an klick repair.

File: \Windows\system32\drivers\AppleSSD.sys

Info: The digital signature of this file could not be checked.

After this point nothing is working anymore!

I will try once again to copy the downloaded BootCamp Drivers

which I downloded here

Boot Camp-Support-Software 5.1.5640

when this also does not work I have no Idea!

Hi Loner,

My USB flash drive is a 8GB USB 2.0 drive from Intenso

I used it before for creating a USB flash drive for Installing Windows 10. This worked fine. I still have it in use an it still works.

The trackpad and the keyboard are working properly when I use the windows 10 USB flash drive.

I tried Boot Camp Assistant (Version 5.1.2 (484)) from OSX 10.95 and I tried Boot Camp from my OSX 10.11 El Capitan on my external harddisk.

I tried the normal way with downloading the Boot Camp Driver thru Boot Camp Assistant an I tried also the way adding the Boot Camp Driver manually. The third version I tried, I took the driver from the windows 10 USB flash drive ($WinPEDriver$, AutoUnattend.xml, BootCamp) and copied them to the windows 7 USB flash drive.

But all versions did not work (No use of keyboard, trackpad ore USB mouse).

Once the created USB flash drive did not boot, another time Boot Camp Assistant was not able to download the Boot Camp driver.

But every time I could boot, I could not use my keyboard, my trackpad ore USB mouse.

I actually thought that the driver are in the $WinPEDriver$ folder. I did not really understand why it is working with the same files in the windows 10 USB flash drive but it doesn't with the windows 7 USB flash drive.

Is there a reliable not to complicated way to install Windows 7 on the entire Mac Book Air Drive without Boot Camp Assistant?

I read about that the Hybrid GPT MBR boot option is not very reliable. Does Windows 7 boot also over GPT ore does it only work with newer OS like win 8.1 and win 10?

You told my last time, that the Mac Book Air mid 2013 is able to boot Windows over EFI ore MBR? Isn't it?

I recovered that when I boot with holding alt/option key , an the Windows 10 USB flash drive is pluged in, I have two options to choose (Windows ore EFI Boot), with the Windows 7 Bootdrive I have only (Windows) Option to choose.

USB Drive boot ability can sometimes be an issue. If you have used it to boot Windows in the past, it should not be a problem.

Mavericks (10.9.5) does not support W10, but El Capitan (10.11) does. The Step 11 method is the recommended and correct method for W7 installation. We should check the Product Version in Bootcamp.xml. W7 requires 5.x driver packages, while W8.1 and W10 require 6.x packages. W8.1 can work with 5.x packages on specific models as should in specific download links.

Failed installations can cause NVRAM issues, so it is recommended that you use SMC/NVRAM reset after each failed attempt.

W7 is very buggy with an EFI installation. This is one of the reasons that W7 is no longer supported on 2015 and later Macs. You can dedicate the entire internal disk to Windows, if you use an external disk or an SD card to boot OSX (or macOS).

This is an unsigned driver and a known issue. Can you check the Product Version in Bootcamp.xml? W7 will not support 6.x Driver packages. W10 will not support BC5.x packages. For W7 to work correctly, you must use 5.x packages as documented in the link I provided earlier.

Can you confirm that the USB flash drive is a USB2? What is the brand model of the USB?

Did you follow step 11 in Install Windows 7 and earlier on your Mac using Boot Camp - Apple Support ?
