Slow Apple TV wifi speed

I've upgraded to AT&T's new Fiber internet and have wifi speeds up to 60Mb upload and download.

I test the speed of the wifi on my iPhone 7 (using the speedtest.net app) and get a nice sharp ping of 6 or 7 and upload and download speeds of 59-60 or so.

At the same time, my Apple TV (4) using the Speedtest app pings at 7 or so but only uploads at 7-9Mb and uploads at 1-3 Mb. And both the iPhone and ATV are in the same room, about the same distance from the wifi router.

So is there anything I can do to fix the ATV's wifi speed, or is this a known issue?

I understand from your post that the internet speed on your Apple TV is slower than on your other Apple devices. In a situation like this the steps from the article below may help:

Get help playing or streaming content on your Apple TV - Apple Support

Check your Internet connection

If you use an Ethernet connection, make sure that your cables are firmly connected and undamaged. If you use Wi-Fi, follow these steps:

Make sure that your Wi-Fi router is 802.11a/g/n/ac compatible. If possible and you have an Apple TV (4th generation), connect your Apple TV to a 5GHz Wi-Fi network instead of a 2.4GHz network.

Move your Apple TV closer to your Internet router and check for interference.*

If you still need help, connect your Apple TV to your Wi-Fi router using an Ethernet cable. You might need to update your Wi-Fi router or check its settings. Contact the router's manufacturer or your Internet service provider for help.

* To check your signal strength on an Apple TV (4th generation), you can go to Settings > Network. For Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation), go to Settings > General > About.

That will be a network issue

Make sure DNS is set to auto (settings-network)

Try Ethernet

To see a current status of the network get a report from istumbler, netstumbler or similar. Look for signal strength, noise and nearby networks

Test on another network

Thanks for the tips.

I moved the ATV around--it was next to a Roku Premier--and the signal picked up. So I moved it a bit further and that seemed to help both devices. Obviously it was wifi interference from another device.
