how to transfer photos from samsung galaxy edge 6 to mac

I recently was given a Samsung Galaxy Edge 6 and took some photos on it which I want to transfer to my Mac (Mac mini running MacOS 10.10.5 (Yosemite) and put them in Photos. I tried using Bluetooth hoping AirDrop would work but it didn't. The problem may be my unfamiliarity with Android (it's not as nice as iOS) but maybe I'm missing an app somewhere. Hopefully there is a simple way to do this. Best regards, Gerry

Mac mini, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1), Canon printer, Samsung monitor, Cisco wifi-router

There's a free Android File Transfer app for Mac OS X available android.com.

https://www.android.com/filetransfer/

The app requires the Android device to be physically attached via an Android device (typically a microUSB) interface cable to a Mac USB port.

Once installed, the Android File Transfer app should open automatically when the cable is connected to both devices.

The Android device must be on and NOT on a lock screen for Android File Transfer to recognize it. If you get an error message, simply unplug the cable, unlock your Android device, and re-plug the cable.

If your Android device pops up a screen, select MFT to enable two-way dragging and dropping of files.

AirDrop is an Apple only transfer option. Android would have no Airdrop capability since its not something Apple makes available to other manufacturers.

Other than plugging the Edge in via USB, and using Photos or Image Capture Apps on your Mac to get the photos out, you would probably need to use a Samsung sync app if one is available.

I personally like to keep a lot of things in the cloud. Therefore I send all my pics to my Google Drive. From there I can easily download them to my desktop computer.

If you're looking for a direct connection you can either plug in a data cable (micro-USB from your phone to the USB port of your Mini) or install an app from the Google Play store in your phone. I tried DroidNAS, which worked for me.
