iPhone 7 overheating and loss of battery life

Upgraded to iphone7, big mistake!! Battery drainage dramatic, all background refresh is off, I don't leave any apps open, battery has gone down 10% just writing this post and it's starting to overheating. I've done a reset and was fine for a few days but back to its demising self, any helpful suggestions welcome please!

iOS 11.0.3, iPhone 7S, language setting English

There certainly is an issue with phone battery discharging fast, after upgrading to iOS11. Even the two successive updates do not seem to solve the matter. I suspect that the reason is in the application CONTACTS. I checked my power usage and a remarkably high portion of my battery capacity was used by the app CONTACTS. It was 25%, even though the app was on screen only for 2 minutes. It seems to be running on background, trying to achieve something, that does not work now.

This probably may be connected to the other issue that also irritates me very much, and this is the failure of the app PHONE or the app CONTACTS to open the app MESSAGE properly. If you tap "send message" on a contact in CONTACTS or in RECENT, it just fails. Also the app MESSAGES uses too much power, in relation to its time on screen. It also seems to be attempting something on the background. Is there a corelation?

One other thing. Sometimes after receiving a call or dialling a contact, it fails to appear in the RECENT list.

This apps need to be restarted too, helps, not always.

To support my opinion of the app CONTACTS draining the battery, see the enclosed print screen of my battery usage screen.

In the good old days in the automotive industry, there was a golden rule: NEVER TOUCH A RUNNING SYSTEM. Wish this was true in IT too.

Have a nice day.

Hi

Depending on the nature of the issue, your iPhone may require battery service.

Before contacting Apple, try the following steps:

If you have not yet done so, update your iPhone to the latest software version:

Restart your iPhone (normally):

Check which apps are responsible for the battery usage:

  • Go to: Settings > Battery > under Battery Usage, select the Last 24 Hours tab.
  • Address any issues with potentially problematic apps (such as by removing and reinstalling them).

Follow Apple's tips for maximising battery life, as detailed here:

Follow Apple's gudance regarding operating temperature, as detailed here:

When charging your iPhone, follow the instructions in the following support article, including:

Check whether the issue persists after restoring your iPhone to factory settings:

If the issue persists, I suggest that you contact Apple Support (remote diagnostics and mail-in service may be available), make a Genius Bar reservation or visit an Apple Authorised Service Provider for assistance, including - if recommended - to arrange for your iPhone to be checked and serviced:

Same issue battery life not as bad but yes, I upgraded as well and am regretting it... bigger screen i thought was the problem since i have always opted for the smaller screens. bummed out not going to buy newer iphones after this. luckily my phone is still under warranty and the person assisting me seems to really care but still i dont have time to be going through this. I buy apple expecting the best.
