Can I use find my iPhone to find my daughters phone?

That is possible as long as you know the Apple ID and password that was used to activate Find My iPhone on your daughter's phone. You can also use log into http://www.icloud.com on the computer and go to Find My iPhone from there.

Very true, but given the context of the question, it did not appear they would have been using Family Sharing since that is indicated in the instructions for setting up Family Sharing. That is the premise that I based my response on. And if mother is the Family Organizer, she would already be seeing the daughter's phone in Find My iPhone.
