Yes, because you are changing the SSID the devices are connected to.
Changing the name, means the devices will no longer be able to find the network they were previously connected to.
In addition to the other replies that you have received, the same would be true if your changed the wireless security type or password. Any wireless network clients using the original security credentials would no longer be connected.
However, changing radio channels, may cause a wireless client to temporarily disconnect, and then, attempt to reconnect on the new channel.
Changing your wifi network name will disconnect anything currently connected.
