maximum character length for Apple ID

I’m thinking of changing my password to a longer, stronger one. As I use a password management software to save my password etc, what the max password character length does apple allow for Apple ID passwords?

i've checked out the Security and your Apple ID - Apple Support but no mention of max password length, also just off from apple live chat, they could tell me either

thanks in advance

P.S. sorry if i've put this post in wrong part of forum.

We here are users like yourself. I have never seen this question, nor have I seen any Apple published topic.

I HAVE seen many discussions 'in the wild' about password strength. The best that you could do is test MaxLength for yourself, but many places recommend a passPHRASE

I have recommended picking a book from you bookshelf - all that you need do is remember the book

flip it open to a random page write down the page #

close your eyes and point to the page - count down the number of lines - write that number down

pick a string of words - then count to the first word - write that down

count the number of words in your chosen phrase - write that number down

you would have ONLY numbers recorded for your secret code (this is "spycraft", BTW)

137, 7, 3, 5 = put this StickyNote in your desk = no one would know what it means, even if found

use a "delimeter" instead of spaces and Initial cap each word & sprinkle in special characters = " This_Password_!s^In~Mac$peak "

If you ever have to change password, you can just pick another random page from the same book - or pick another
