how do i add the date to text messages received

If it is not a day in the current week, it should have a date.

So, I have some that say "Yesterday" (which means Wednesday), some that say "Tuesday", and some that say 4/18/17 and 4/19/17 which are Tuesday and Wednesday of last week.

If it says Monday then it is this past Monday. Once next Monday rolls around, it will switch to the numeric date.

I am using ios10.3 & haven't had a date on my texts since June 28. It is now July 7. What gives?
