iWork/Pages reinstall in my Apple ID

Many years ago, my husband purchased iWork 09 for me using his Apple ID. Eventually the application upgraded to the current free version (Pages/KeyNote/etc), but I still have to give his Apple ID info in order to update patches/fixes etc. I'd like to do away with having to give his info in the future because the program is now free, but it won't update if I use my ID. All other apps on my iMac are associated/purchased with my ID.

Is it possible to uninstall the current version of Pages, plus the old version which I assume is triggering the need for his ID, and then reinstall it using my ID? If I drag the application to Trash, won't there still be record of the old purchase in some OS file?

Thanks in advance for your help!

iMac, macOS Sierra (10.12.4)

Keep the iWork '09 Suite that now resides in /Applications/iWork '09 folder. The Apple ID validation servers for this product went away over 3.5 years ago. This Pages '09 application still has around 100 features not found in the last release of Pages v6.1.1.

If your Mac was configured with your Apple ID, but you are using Pages, Numbers, and Keynote applications downloaded from the Mac App Store after Oct 2013, then your husband's Apple ID is, as you have discovered, associated with those applications.

Move (command key plus drag) only those applications with the following icons from your /Applications folder to an external drive, and then unmount that drive.

Then, sign into the Mac App Store with your Apple ID, and download Pages v6.1.1, Numbers v4.1.1, and Keynote v7.1.1. These will now be associated with your Apple ID, and future updates should be seemless via the App Store Updates panel.

Hi, Viking. Thank you! I'm in the process of trying to do as you suggest, but when I select the Pages app icon under Applications and then press the cmd key, this seems to deselect the app and I can't move it to the external drive (flash drive). I can however select it, drag, and "copy" it to the flash drive. Is that, copying it, sufficient and then trash the original Pages app icon that remains?

Hello again.

Update: Used the cmd key to the right of the space bar, and Move worked. Newest version of Pages is now on my flash drive and no longer showing in Finder. However ... (sigh) ... when I logged into the Mac app Store it shows "Open" for Pages rather than "Install" so I can't reinstall it. Is it possible that it wants me to also 'move' the older version of Pages off my Mac in order to 'see' that it's not installed?

Thanks again for your assistance.
