Unzip & FTP

I'm used to Windows FTP programs so am having problems on my iPad 2. I tried ZipBrowser but have to save each file individually. Not good for 200 files. I tried FTP Manager but could not unzip the files. I'm used to unzipping, saving to directory folder, then FTPing from the left (folder with unzipped files) to the right (server directory of sites.)

ANy recommendations for free apps to unzip the files to a folder you choose, then one to FTP the files from the folder you pick to the server folder you want? Ideally, it would work on iPad 2 and iPhone 6, but if only the iPad, I can get by.

THank you in advance.

If it's not possible, what good is the iPad for building and maintaining websites?

I would never have considered an iPad for web site development and maintenance. I would use a conventional OS X, Linux or Windows PC computer for that kind if work. A tablet, iPad or otherwise, would never fit that type of use to my mind.

Ignoring the limitations of a sandboxed and closed file system, the lack of true multitasking, inability to run and access relational databases across apps, or test and run PERL, PYTHON or another scripts would make an iPad useless to me for working with websites.

Not possible. iOS does not have a centralized, user accessible file system (it never has and never will). Files would be unzipped only within the app you use to download and unzip them. Also iOS does not allow FTP, SFTP or other downloads to folders, since there is no user accessible file system.

iOS is a strictly sandboxed OS and file system.

It has been said many times: an iPad is not a computer. A primary reason is the lack of a general-purpose filesystem, as already described by Michael Black. Another limitation is the difficulty of applying different programs (apps) to the same file. For instance, you could not edit, then run, a program. If you need computer functionality, then you need a computer.

It "may have been said many times that an iPad is not a computer" to you, but never to me. Nine years ago I was coding, building websites from scratch, and reading all I could, using Windows and DOS. Never touched any Apple product until 2011 and bought an iPad based on recommendations from friends. I needed a computer i could use while in bed.

I Can download and unzip programs, err apps. i can't FTP to a chosen directory. This seems strange to me but I'm a Windows gal.
