I got a verification code that I did not request

I Just got an Apple ID verification code on my mobile phone that I did not request, I assume somebody that its trying to get into my account requested it, what's the right thing to do to check the root cause and/or prevent it? Please.

I understand from your post that you received an Apple ID verification code that you did not request and would like to know how to prevent it from happening again. First, make sure to tap Don't Allow. Then reset your Apple ID password. The following article lists steps on what to do if you believe your Apple ID has been compromised:
