Your PC / Device needs to be repaired

I'm trying to install Windows 10 using Bootcamp on my new Macbook Pro (MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports)) but i'm getting "Your PC / Device needs to be repaired" as shown on the screenshot. I can't press F8 because of the Touch Bar.

The ISO-file that i'm using is Win10_1703_Dutch_x64.iso (MD5: 2ca5872e1ce8008b30c6d8b280115e7a). I've downloaded it wired from the Microsoft Website. I've also tried another .iso - provided by the company where i bought my Windows-license - but with the same error.

This is what i found written by LonerT in another topic and i also tried that:

From https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO,

Mac customers using Boot Camp: Instead of performing a new install of Creators Update, download and install Windows 10 Anniversary Update ISO. Then install the Creators Update via the normal Windows update process. For more details click here.

You cannot install W10 Creators Update directly, as noted.

If you have a new, unused Boot Camp partition that has been formatted NTFS via the Windows installer, then you only need to install Windows. The error indicates that you did not format the partition properly for Windows. If you have a Windows .ISO file, then you need to turn it into a usable installer.

Thank you for the reply. The partition is fresh, the installation is new. I've removed and remade the Bootcamp partition several times. So i'm not really sure how it can be corrupt.

Nevertheless i would like to try your solution, but i'm not really sure how to do it from my Macbook, because the software to create a bootable USB-disc on the Microsoft-website is windows-only.

The Bootcamp-partition was made by the Boot Camp assistent. I never got to the Windows Installer, the error message occurs right after the first reboot. Am i understanding it correctly that somehow Boot Camp does not create the right / correct partition?

I'm not really sure what "If you have a Windows .ISO file, then you need to turn it into a usable installer." means, because in the links you provided they state that you just need a ISO-file to install.

I want to thank you for your responses Kappy, but maybe i should state more clearly what my steps are.

As written on the Apple website (and those instructions i've read) I use Boot Camp and load my Windows-ISO file there. When it is finished downloading the files it needs it reboots. Normally that's when the Windows-installer loads and you can select a partition (Bootcamp-partition) and install Windows.

But this time I keep on getting this error message, even before the Windows-installer starts. Because you wrote that "[...] you did not format the partition properly for Windows." i'm asking if I can maybe repair that with an extra step (outside the Boot Camp Assistent or something).

I know how a normal installation of Windows on a Macbook with the Boot Camp Assistant should go, i've done it before and i've read the latest instructions. But somehow this time something goes wrong and i'm here seeking for a solution for that.

I suggest looking through the links I posted for you. Installing Windows can be tricky because the Windows formatter does not tell you what is for OS X and what is for Windows. Be sure to remember what size you made the Windows partition. That is the guide. The formatter needs you to select the proper partition to format NTFS. It is easy to format the OS X partition or some other one instead of the right one. Once you get the Windows partition correctly formatted then you are ready to install Windows.

I've looked through the links you posted. Half of the links are duplicates and they don't adres my problem. They are just standaard information about installing Windows on Mac (the standard steps). I don't even reach the Windows formatter because I don't get into the installation. To be absolutely clear: I can't finish step 4, because i don't get into the installation program.

I'm aware of the need to know the size of the partition to select te right one. But all of this isn't my problem. The problem is that the installation doesn't start, the Windows formatter doesn't start. I can't select a partition because of the error message that i've shown in my opening post.

Open Boot Camp Assistant, remove the partition your created and return the drive to its original state with only OS X. Open Boot Camp Assistant and select the option to read the documentation. Create a new Boot Camp partition then begin the installation of Windows for which you will need a real Windows installer DVD or follow the procedure for using the .ISO disk if you have created one.

This is as far as I go. I don't use Windows. If I did then I would use virtualization like Parallels.
