How do I remove unwanted pending downloads from my iTunes account?

Several years ago, 14 years possibly, my then teenage son "purchased" - with my permission - some songs at the iTunes store. For whatever reason he never downloaded them. I have no interest in the songs and I am certain he no longer has an interest either. Can these be removed from my account? Thanks for any help!

Good evening THX1136,

Thanks for your question. Purchases are tied to an Apple ID permanently, but you can hide them if you don't want to see them in your iTunes library.
You can also delete them from your iTunes library to free up space if you need to.

Hide and unhide iTunes Store, App Store, or iBooks Store purchases

Thanks for your reply. I get why they can't be removed and the account refunded as that would open up the whole process to fraud. I did not know about the "hide" option. I appreciate your time answering my question. Hope all is well.
