what is user "_hidd", have I been hacked?

My MacBook sometimes is slow when I'm on the Internet - I thought I'd snoop around and found a user ID in the Activity Monitor called "_hidd". What is this? (I know about root and some of the others used by processes, but what is this?

MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012), macOS Sierra (10.12.1)
