How can I get 60hz on the LG 34uc99 with a 2015 MacBook Pro

Hey guys, I tried connecting my MacBook to a new LG 34uc99 ultrawide monitor and I can only get 50hz pal. This monitor has a USB-C port which I can't use because the 2015 MBP does not have that. I tried to use a mini display port to USB c plug but that doesn't work either. I tried HDMI which does works but only outputs to 50hz.

Hi,

I'm pretty sure the answer lies in the following statement:

There are two television display systems in commercial use: PAL (common in Europe and parts of Asia) delivers a frame rate of 25 fps (frames per second) with 625 lines, while NTSC (used in the U.S. and Canada) delivers a frame rate of 30 fps using 525 lines.

PAL doubled = 50

NTSC doubled = 60

So your monitor is operating as "fast" as is possible in the PAL format.
