Accidentally reported text as junk on iPhone

I didn't block contacts instead I was going through my messages and selected all of them to just delete them , but instead I press report junk. All this messages where my friends, clients, family, my son school school parents and teachers as well apple and many others that are very important. Some of them are not in my contacts and most of my work inquiry are in it. I already followed your instructions and check my blocked messages and contacts and is none of it is there Again I didn't accidentally block them, instead of deleting ( to free up space on the phone) i pressed the " report as junk". I have never previously seen that option, since I was going through fast I just selected all and without paying attention I thought I was pressing delete, when I screen popped this messages are reported as junk it was to late to undo. All messages where gone from text messaging. Please help.

I FINALLY figured it out

After accidentally sending my fiances number to spam, I was relentless trying to figure out a solution

Called Apple, after 1 hour & 45 mins on the phone I decided to take matters into my own hands (They were absolutely no help what-so-ever, thanks for wasting my time Apple).

I found the Solution & it WORKED!!!! - Yes, it WORKED!

First thing is first: You need to have another device with your Apple ID

(I sent my fiances number to junk/spam using my iPhone)

Second: Log into your iMessage onto your 2nd device (not the one you used to junk/spam the message), when you log into iMessage you should get a code sent to your device, I don't remember exactly what the message said, but I got the code on my iPad and typed it into my iPhone (or the other way around, don't remember)

Third: Send the person (you sent to junk/spam) a iMessage on your second device..(When you send it to them on your second device, it will show on your iPhone) after it shows the conversation on your iPhone you can start messaging them again!!

This worked for me, I am currently iMessaging the person I sent to spam/junk

Hope it helps guys!!

Reply to the message if you need a better explanation, I tried my hardest to explain it as simple as possible!

Merry Christmas!🙂

I did this about an hour and a half ago.. then spent an hour on chat to come to the conclusion from a supervisor that it does not matter if you "Report Junk" your messages by accident, it won't have any affect on your incoming messages unless you block the actual number or the number that was reported had been reported by a number of people. No need to reset your phone.

FYI i know that in some of the threads it says that even if you report as Spam it wont have any effect but i made the same mistake while cleaning my conversations and now all the alerts that i used to get from my bank are not coming through. i called my bank and they say that when they try to send me the alert it bounces back to them showing they are blocked.

Okay - I just did the exact same thing...and restored from a few hours ago...all is good on my phone....

however, like the first person said....we both pressed "reported as junk"....when trying to clean out our text messages....

so....how do we take THAT back? I'm assuming reported as junk means...it sends Apple a notification that these are BAD phone numbers.

Or does Apple take into account mistakes happen...and if a number shows up as "junk" over a number of times...then it is blacklisted.

This is all I wanted to know, was if marking as junk REALLY mattered. Like, what does it even do? I only just discovered the bulk select tool for messages, and then also marked a ton of my family and contacts as junk. It seems as though this doesn’t matter at all.. so thank you!

I think this answers the original question the best.

is this true? are you sure. i really need to still receive text messages from those contact’s old threads that i deleted to clear out my messages. what a terrible feature. no well timed warning or anything. options were either cancel or report as junk. i accidentally reported as junk. THEY WERE NOT JUNK. who would do that anyway? stupid feature. Apple and their updates are making me so upset and wanting to switch to Samsung.

Hello NevenaApple,

Thanks for that info and choosing the Apple Support Communities. The good news is the following steps in this article will be helpful in resolving your issue of messages being missing after marking some as junk, as you can restore your iPhone from a backup from when you still had the messages.

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup

Cheers!
