Unicode Hex Input half note?

I am trying to insert a half note symbol in word for mac .... the unicode hex input for a half note is 1D15E which is too long for the unicode hex keyboard. So I used a surrogate pair calculator to find the unicode surrogate pair (D834+DD5E). HOWEVER, my mac doesn't seem to recognize this entry ...

Even the surrogate pair calculator pair gives me the empty box symbol (see below) any suggestions?
