Reformat Macbook Air

my external flash drive is detected on my macbook air, and i can read the files, copy and paste, but it is not seen startup boot tab...

since i want to format my macbook, there is no way i can boot from the external flash drive.

any script that i should jot in the terminal. knowing that my flash drive is detected on the desktop but not on the startup boot section or tab.

please advise.

Hi,


Your external drive is not seen as a bootable drive because it has no OS on it.


If all the files on the external drive are on your MB, clone to the external drive (I recommend getting an external HD as they are more dependable) using Carbon Copy Cloner: https://bombich.com/kb/ccc4/i-have-full-volume-backup-in-folder-or-disk-image-i- dont-have-bootable-backup.-how-can-i, try out your bootable flash drive to make sure it works properly and has all your files on it, then erase and format your MB and clone back to it.
