Can no longer connect to public wifi?!

I used to use xfinity access point for wifi, the signal still shows strong so I know it is available in the area still. I was just using it a couple of days ago. For the past two days though, I haven't been able to connect to it. At first a message saying security recommendation popped up. I followed through with downloading the security certificates and the message doesn't pop up anymore but it still loads and never connects to the wifi. Anyone know a fix for this? The prompt for the log in page doesn't even come up for me to connect to the access point for anyone who knows exactly what I'm talking about. Please help!

I would first try going into the wi-fi settings and press the "i" next to the Xfinity access then select Forget This Network. If that doesn't work, go into the Safari Settings and Clear History and Website Data. If there's still an issue, go to Settings|General|Reset and select Reset Network Settings. Just know that this option will require you to enter the password for all wi-fi connections that you have previously connected to.

I'm curious if you get this same "Unsecured Network" message when you're trying to access open public wifi? I tried uninstalling all the xfininity wifi apps, etc. from my iPhone 6 that has the same problem. It didn't seem to help. Meanwhile, my daughter's iPhone (5s) can access public wifi networks without a problem (for what it's worth, her phone has a different carrier from mine and has NO data plan).

I just spent a while on the phone with Apple about this precise issue! The guy with whom I spoke was very nice but didn't have any deep insights. While talking with him, however, noticed under Settings/General/ there was a bar for Preferences. I found something about Comcast Preferences that looked like there were preferences for 3 different networks. I unselected these preferences as well as the Comcast wifi app.

I've not yet had a chance to try and log onto an open wifi network since these changes, but I'm hoping this may help.

Meanwhile, I'm REALLY hoping somebody else has some useful insights.

Yes and that is what triggered my problem. It all of a sudden kept giving me that message even though I have been using this network since I got this phone. Once the message popped up I searched for days for an answer because usually when you try to connect to xfinity wifi, a login page usually comes up to sign in if you're an xfinity customer. That page never came up after I started having this problem which I believe is the reason why I couldn't connect. And other public wifi it would say I was connected but the connection was unusually slow and always dropping. They say it is a suggestion but it's basically you're phone telling you what not to do. I just find it very irritating. I've tried accessing a different wifi and while attached, going back to the xfinity wifi and it connected. Idk why I was having problems at first because it didn't connect at all. Might I *** that I installed xfinitywifi provision on my phone, it's a profile with certifications to tell you're phone that the wifi you're using is safe so the security recommendation message should go away while using that wifi
