Garmin Connect not syncing data with Apple Health without reinstalling Connect app every day.

I have two smartwatches: a Garmin Vivoactive and a Chronos Smart Disc. I'm using Apple Healthkit so it records all my info and steps in one place. The Chronos connects fine and records the data automatically to Apple Health. The Garmin, however, takes a lot of time and energy to send its data to Apple Health. I usually have to uninstall/reinstall the Garmin Connect app to get Apple Health to pull data off of it. I turned off my iPhone 7's sensor for steps and put the Garmin Connect as my top data source, but I still have to mess with the settings every day to get it to record the data to Apple Health. It'll work fine and update for the rest of that day, but then won't communicate with the Connect app the next day and I have to start all over again.

Anyone running into this?

Hi. You probably just need to force quit the Garmin app. Double click on the Home button, and use your finger to push the app off the top of the screen. I suspect the app isn't performing well when the watch disconnects and reconnects. You might try complaining to Garmin, since it's their app. Maybe check the app store reviews too.

I tested some Garmin products with Gamin Connect perfectly working with Apple Health. Two days ago, I bought a Garmin Vivoactive 3 and it worked seamlessly with Apple Health until I use an other App on my iPhone that also have permission to write data in Apple Health. Since then, no more data is written by Garmin Connect in Apple Health.

Tried reinstall Garmin Connect and restart the iPhone 6plus without success. I suspect some Apps to interfere with Apple Connect…

Is there any one from Apple in here to help us? I'm wandering if I'm not going to buy an Apple Watch 3, but if there is some bugs with Apple Health, I'm going to keep the Garmin Vivoactive…

Well it kind of fixed itself. I seems to take a long time. Like a day or two of trying at first. But It did finally connect. I do notice Sometimes if I you use the GPS feature for 2 hours it can take 1/2 hour to reconnect after turning GPS off. I just keep trying until it does. The Bluetooth doesn't seem to be the issues because it says its connected. But try deleting the Bluetooth and retrying. I've also tried having the phone and the Garman plugged into the computer at the same time. Sometimes just getting a text or weather alert on my phone that shows on the garmin starts it working. I think it's just finnacky. Make sure the Garmin has the latest update. My version is Garmin 3.20 and latest update on my Iphone.

Leave the app open when it doesn't connect. Try to keep your phone from closing for a few minutes. I also sleep with the garmin on 22nd floor other side of house. My phone stays in the living room. Most of the time it works fine when I get up. I can't nail it down to a particular thing except time. Most of the time the app is closed on my phone. Text and weather still make it to the phone.

Also the Web version of Garmin connect won't update until your phone and garmin sync and update. Let me know how you make out.

Similar issue with my wife's vivosmart 3. Weirdly, Apple Health is getting regular readings at ~30 minute intervals from the HR monitor (for resting HR,) but the Steps just flat-out stopped transmitting. This is a real problem, because she is using the Garmin as her primary Step counter and doesn't keep her phone in her pocket.

I scanned some other search results, including Garmin's support community, and this seems like a common problem for well over a year-- yet no obvious resolution that I can find. Very annoying.

Exactly the same issue here with my vivoactive 3. The steps do sync as i can see the steps data under sources. However, apple health seems ro ignore the data. Only the steps measured when im carrying my phone are being considered. Ive changed the priority of the steps sources (put garmin first and iphone x second), but the garmin steps are still ignored. Ive reinstalled the garmin app, which made no difference.
