how to link iphone 7 to Pioneer AVH-X3700BHS via blue tooth so the reciever will automatically recieve texts

I am trying to link my new iPhone 7+ to my Pioneer AVH-X3700BHS car reciever so texts will be handed off automatically to the reciever. The ph0ne calls come over via bluetooth just fine and I can answer, talk, disconect, etc just fine. However, I can't sem to get the reciever to answer texts as would happen with my old Android phone. How do I get this to happen?

iPhone 7 Plus, iOS 10.3.1, Reciever is Pioneer AVH-X3700BHS

This is progressing OK except I am having trouble copying the update file to a flash drive that the radio will read. I am doing this on a Mack Book Air with OSX 10.12.4. I even tried reformatting the flash drive to Dos (FAT 32) and copied only the unzipped firmware file to the drive. The trash was empty before I copied it over. At the point the receiver attempts to read the drive it returns an error message saying there are other files on the drive. Do I have to make the firmware update flash drive on a PC rather than on my MAC?
