Having Busses set up in a template. advantages/disadvantages?

Hi. I have 7 busses set up in my autoload template. Does this decrease computer performance even if they are loaded onto busses but not being used.

Anyone who does this or anything similar please post your comments/advice here.

Thanks, Ben

The whole point of the autoload is to setup the things you need.

Stuff doesn't use resources unless it's being used, ie you are routing audio through it, and even then, the DSP requirement to mix signals is negligable even on a slow computer.

Stop worrying and just do it.

I have a Powerbook G4 1.25, and my autoload has 8 buss objects and 6 aux objects. With nothing routed to them, no resources are being used. It's only really DSP intensive applications like plugins where you need to be concerned with resources.

Having a bus there doesn't decrease CPU performance at all. Using a plug-in on a bus will use some CPU power, but don't spend your time worrying about it. Most of my templates consist of 16 visible busses (64 in total) and 32 aux channels, with some of my aux channels are already set up with BFD ready to go. Other channels have things like emulated split harmonizer effects, bass guitar setups, reverbs, etc.
