Mac rejecting email accounts passwords

why does my Mac keep asking for my email accounts passwords then keep rejecting them?

And my gmail account gets mail, but my yahoo mail does not come through.

Mac Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

Per tjk's suggestion, first confirm that you can login to your accounts via their web interfaces.

If you can, then the next step it to open the "Keychain Access.app" on your Mac, then select "Login" in the top sidebar and "Passwords" in the lower sidebar. Then, search for "Yahoo" and/or "Google". If you find entries that appear related to your email accounts, then delete them.

Then, try your accounts again and it should prompt for the password.

I'm having the same problem.

Whenever I try to: Get All New Mail, I get an error message saying...

The MobileMe IMAP server "mail.me.com" rejected the password for user "name@mac.com"

I then enter the correct password but still throws up the error. I know this password is correct as I tested it in iCloud.com and it works.

Has apple changed the Incoming Mail Server settings? or is it their server having issues?

I am running Snow Leopard (10.6.8).

Many thanks

Same issues here the last few weeks, can't get mail to work at all (am on an old mac that wont run any newer OS though).....stopped working for a week...started working for a week, stopped again the last week.....rang them a few times (mainly as I got locked out of the online one too in the first week and didn't know the security answers, they couldn't override them but it seemed to let me reset them after a while), they're very helpful but mail is still broken.

Gmail works fine in the apple mail app, .mac mail isn't, wont work on thunderbird either, can only access it through a browser...which is a real headache.

I'm also on 10.6.8 (Why? Because I have many expensive applications that will NOT run on any of the daily updated operating systems).

I was away from my desktop for the month of June and now I come back to find my Mail.app Version 4.6 will no longer receive mail from Mac.com mail. I can only read and send mail if I use a browser like Firefox or Chrome. Before leaving in June I asked the Genius people at the local Apple store about an email that I received in my mac.com mail explaining that after June 15th all apps needed double authentication; they did not know what I was talking about. Hopefully someone on this forum will come up with a solution.
