Genieo - Macbook Pro

I have Avast Free software and am relatively new to Mac. I know I came from PC world so I am still learning.

I need your help. I ran Avast and it found a program called Genieo which I cannot locate anywhere that I know how to find on my computer.

Does any one have a good set of instructions on how to find this and how to remove?

First, Macs DO NOT need any third party antivirus, cleaning or ANY other type of third party maintenance apps installed. Mac OS was designed to be EXTREMELY secure and if simply kept up-to-date does not require any additional maintenance apps. This is unlike the MS Windows environment that was not designed to be secure from it's onset.

Locate the developers instructions and uninstall the AV app you have installed before it modifies and damages Mac OS!!!!!

Genio is adware and may be removed by using EtreCheck which is a reporting app. To locate EtreCheck please use the instructions below.

Please run an EtreCheckreport of your system. Please click the link, download the app and run the report. Once you have the report, look in it for anything that indicates it should be removed such as Genio.

If you would like more info on what EtreCheck is, simply click the link and you will find a description of the app.
