Keyboard Water Damage

I spilt some water on my Macbook the other day and now I have the following problems:

1. I have to hold the 'option' button to type '1'

2. The 'caps lock' button triggers 'delete' and vice versa

3. The 'less volume' button triggers the letter 'p' and vice versa.

Please, anyone help? Thanks...

Hi,

Normally, without a spill, I'd recommend resetting the NVRAM: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204063, but with the spill, it's anybody's guess; in any case, trying it won't hurt anything.

You may simply need a new keyboard, or the water may have penetrated down to the logic board, causing the issues. I recommend taking it to an Apple Store "genius" bar for diagnosis: https://support.apple.com/contact

Anytime that a Mac suffers a spill, the first course of action is to turn the Mac off and not turn it back on until all other salvage procedures have been completed. The reason being is to minimize the possibility of short circuits that can cause serious damage to various parts of the Mac.

What is done is done, so do have the Mac evaluated at an Apple store genius bar. Repair costs may be very high.

Ciao.
