Missing import from mini DV camera to iMovie

I follow THIS procedure to import in iMovie a media from a tape-based VCR (see how I did it here below), everything seems working fine until point n°9 of the procedure: once I've done importing and click 'Close' to close the import window there is no video imported at all in iMovie. 😕

I'll be glad to anyone able to help me, thanks in advance for your time.

The problem is that in" pass-through" mode TimeCode is not generated and this is required

in order to import into iMovie ver 10 (and FCPX).

Use the Record function in QuickTime Player ,this app is on your Mac.

Experiment with the quality setting versus file size.

You will then need to import this into iMovie.

Pass-through mode has worked on older versions of iMovie as they did not require TimeCode.

Also your cam does produce TimeCode if you were importing from DV tape.

MANY thanks for your prompt response thesurreyfriends!🙂

I've imported the VCR through QuickTime Player (I've never suspected that QuickTime could do that) and it worked just fine (of course is not automatically recognising the clips).✅

Once I play the video file now, however, I've noticed that the video and the audio are not synchronized, do you know why (and, more important, how to fix it)?😕

That's disappointing.

Does this happen with other quality settings?

What quality settings were offered and what did you choose ?

If other quality settings do not help then you could try recording from the VCR

onto a DV tape on your Sony DCR HC32.

Once on the DV tape you should be able to import into iMovie.( or QT Player)

Obviously very time consuming if you have lots of VCR recordings to transfer.

I've got 'High' or 'Maximum' quality; the 'Maximum' setting returns me and error (and doesn't allow me to import the video), I use the 'High' setting.

Now, if I select the 'screen' as video source and the camcorder as a audio source THAN the video and the audio are perfectly synchronized... 😕, I don't get it.
