Cannot find com.apple.desktop.plist

Hi

I current cannot change the background colour of the desktop when a centered image is used. Therefore I'd like to try deleting my desktop settings and restart. Yet, I cannot find the file ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist. Is this maybe new under macOS Sierra or is there any other corresponding file that I can delete to reset the desktop settings and restart?

Thanks

Same for me, initially - but looked at the date last modified (April 2015) which puts it back in the Yosemite period!

So, thought I would see if it makes any difference if it was deleted - and it doesn't, can still change desktop pictures and use coloured backgrounds as before - plus a new one has not been created, so on the face of it, it doesn't appear to be needed by the OS anymore (unless another plist is hiding elsewhere!).
