Assets/Sub folder keeps saving photos

Hello,

I have My Photo Stream ON on my iPhone but switched OFF in Photos on both my Macs (Macbook Pro on Mavericks and Macbook air on Sierra).

I want to save the photos manually to either one of them or an external drive yet keep a back up of at least some photos online.

The problem is that the Library/Application Support/iLifeAssetManagement/assets/sub folder keeps updating itself all the time with the photos from my phone and thus taking valuable space.

Is it because the Photo Stream is on on my phone? Hmm I guess I could try to switch it off to find out, but perhaps someone here knows a way how to keep the configuration I want.

Thank you very much

Marta

Is My Photo Stream also switched off in System Preferences > iCloud > Photos > Options? If not, it will still try to sync, so you could use it in Aperture or iPhoto. If you still have iPhoto or Aperture installed, check, if one of the libraries is still trying to sync.

thank you all for your replies!

this was the case on my macbook pro indeed.. it was switched off in iPhoto but not in the configuration. So it seems to be working now!

However, on my macbook air, this is switched off both in Photos and Settings... any other place where that could be ON? I dont have Aperture, I checked Lightroom but didnt find any 'photo stream' option...

thanks

well, I didn't know that I did, but indeed I do apparently (I thought iPhoto was transformed into Photos).

iPhoto is still there, unless you uninstalled it, because iPhoto 9.6.1 can run on Sierra. Photos created its own photos library from the iPhoto Library. But if you need to look up older photos in iPhoto or check the descriptions of your albums and events, you can still do it.

But I have no idea where else you could look to disable My Photo stream, sorry.
