my iwatch is being replaced because of a crack that just appeared out of nowhere. The watch glass was never in contact with any object that would have created the hairline fracture. There were no visible impacts to the glass. I am guessing that it is some sort of defect from the glass manufacturer.
Hi
Apple advises that you should not continue using a damaged Apple Watch.
Apple does not offer a screen repair service for Apple Watch. Your watch may instead be eligible for replacement via chargeable, out-of-warranty service.
Prices vary by model and region. Apple's out-of-warranty repair prices in the US, for example, are detailed here:

Contact Apple Support (mail-in service may be available, if required), make a Genius Bar reservation or visit an Apple Authorised Service Provider to establish your available service options, timescales and cost and to arrange service:
Apple is replacing/fixing my 8 month old Apple Watch- a hairline crack appeared out of nowhere- take it in to the Genius Bar- maybe they will consider a warranty for you if you have a single hairline crack with no impact damage!
It would be very difficult to prove that it wasn't damaged in use after a year. Best you can do is take it to an Apple store for evaluation. I cannot give you much in the way of encouragement.
