iphone 7 will not play through car aux

If you're using USB Playback

1. Restart your iOS device and your car.
2. Connect your iOS device to a different stereo USB port (if you have one).
3. Try a different Lightning to USB cable.
4. Update your iOS device.
5. Install any firmware updates for your car stereo.

Try playing audio from a different app. If you can't play audio from a third-party app, contact the app developer for help. If you can't play audio from an Apple app, contact Apple Support.

Double check with the manual for your car stereo that you've set it correctly. Mine has to be set to "Aux".

I'm kind of confused how you're using an lightning cable to connect to an AUX port. An AUX port is generally a 3.5 pin port. Can you explain your cable configuration in more detail?

Just had a long conversation with some other forum folks. The consensus was that the cheap stuff from Amazon has a high failure rate. Use the adapter that came with your phone and a standard AUX cable and see what happens.

Then maybe there's something wrong with the adapter. Take it to Apple.

Yes I understand that it says USB, but I would still suggest to follow those steps or what's said above.

I just started having the same trouble. I plugged the cable into two different cars and bought a new aux cable. The only thing that is constant is the Apple supplied adapter that came with the 7.
