Boot camp - Win 10 Display shows 5 screens attached

I have seen this issue a few times now on different Boot camped machines.

After successfully installing windows 10 Pro via the boot camp assistant and installing the support software as default.

And after I had run a Windows update after installing SQL server.

I found a display issue when connecting an external monitor. When connecting the monitor (both from hdmi/thunderbolt), the display settings showed 5 screens attached. I was unable to do anything through the GUI to fix this and trying to extend the display also showed issues.

To rectify this I rebooted into the Mac partition and downloaded the support software from the Boot camp assistant,

Boot camp Assistant -> Action -> Download Windows support software

I saved this to an external drive and booted back into the windows partition.

I ran the EXE in this folder which repaired the install of the support software.

This rectified the problem.

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015), macOS Sierra (10.12.4), Windows 10 pro
