Has anybody connected successfully a Dell P4317Q monitor to a MacBook Pro 2016 using an HDMI adapter?

The Dell P4317Q is a 43" monitor. In theory, it should work at 4K@30Hz with a MacBook Pro 2016 using the HDMI adapter from Apple.

However, the MacBook apparently turns on and off the video signal every 30s or so, causing the screen to blank for 1-2 seconds. It's very annoying, also considering I'm connecting a 4000$ MacBook using an 80$ adapter.

Note that a colleague has the same setup, and experiences the same problem. We tried to connect other sources to the monitor (DVDs, etc.) and no problem surfaced. So this is appears to be a specific problem of the Apple HTMI adapter or of the MacBook Pro.

My next idea is to buy a third-part DisplayPort adapter. DisplayPort should support 4K@60Hz, and, with a bit of luck, the monitor won't turn itself off.

If anybody has suggestions or a workaround for HTMI, please let me know!
