Double authentication password not worked

I recently lost my iphone 6s

But as i had ON its security feature of Double Authentication

i was feeling safe about my content in my lost iphone but yesterday i got a phishing text message on name of Apple with some fake link that asking my apple id and password

As i opened my Apple id and it erased my iphone from my apple id and now unable to track my iphone

So what was the use of Double authentication password

so disappointed with Apple. Anyone here for support

Two Factor Authentication would send the "Code" to your "Trusted" device, such as your iPhone. If your iPhone was not "locked" at the home screen and thus usable, the user would see the required numbers. The perpetrator however should have had no way of knowing your Apple ID "Password".
