Macbook Pro 13" Mid 12 SSD upgrade

Hi... I have a Macbook Pro 13" Mid 12 wich currently has an 1TB HDD installed , I'm going to upgrade My HDD to SSD , I use Samsung 380 evo 1TB to replace my HDD, will it work?

Yes, the Samsung 850 evo will work however it is not supported on OSX.

You will need to enable "trim" support in OSX for Samsung SSD

Also if you need to update the firmware on the SSD and it can only be done in MS-Windows

The Samsung SSD's are designed for MS-Windows and are only Supported in MS-Windows computers.


I use a Samsung Evo 850 in my Macbook Pro mid-2012 before the Crucial MX300 came out.

It has been working fine in my Macbook with boot camp dual boot Sierra / MS-Windows-10

Has worked perfectly for two years now with no problems.

I can boot into MS-Windows and update the SSD firmware within MS-Windows.


Your best deal is to get an SSD that is supported in OSX

like an OWC SSD or Crucial MX300

These SSD's are supported and designed for OSX

You do not need to use trim suppport for these SSD's

and they offer an app to update the firmware within OSX.
