Thanks for your detailed answer. It was very detailed and with very good instructions, which I do not need at all.

I have in iTunes an account with @me.com nature.

It is an old account, and I did not use it for years, and do not have the any e-mail account for it.

When iTunes asked me to supply the password for it. I did it, but Apple decided that it was not correct. So, I click on 'forget password'.

Apple showed me a screen with two possibilities: One to send me a link via e-mail, but, this e-mail account doesn't exist any more. The second is utilizing any of the security questions, to which I forgot the correct answers I gave in time.

So, I am in a dead lock, and I came to ask my question, and I ask to forgive me if it was not clear in the first time.

I hope to get an answer showing me the way out of this situation.

Thanks in advance

If all you are doing is passing the computer to another person in the immediate family you'll need to do the following:

  1. in System Preferences select the iCloud tab and sign out. This breaks the ties between your computer and iCloud (mail, calendars, etc)
  2. Launch the App Store and sign out. This breaks the tie between the App Store and the computer which means any applications downloaded to the computer will cease to work.
  3. Launch iTunes sign out and deauthorize the computer. This breaks the tie between the iTunes store and the computer so movies and songs will no longer work
  4. You may wish to return to System Preferences and create a new account for the family member, making it an admin account, and then log into that account. From there, log into System Preferences and delete your account.

Again, all this assumes the computer is going to an immediate member of the family. Also, if this is the case you need not perform steps 2 and 3 because it is permissible for most applications to be shared among family members.

If you intend to sell or give the computer to someone not in the immediate family you have to do something else. First, perform step 2. Then restart the computer while holding the Command, Option and R keys. Then erase the hard drive using Disk Utility. Download and install the operating system.

Unfortunately, any download/purchase from the app store is tied to the Apple ID used to obtain it. If you change your email address as described in the article, then the purchases are still under the same Apple ID, just a different email address (I've done that, but I never used one of those email addresses). But, if you stop using one ID and create another, these purchases cannot be transferred from one to another.

See if anything suggested in this article might help:

You give me valuable information but it doesn't help me since the link you gave me brings me to the no exit road.

My problem is not past purchases. My problem starts when I am trying to download a new application, a free one, and iTunes asks me to enter a password to a very old Apple ID from the time of @me.com.

I do not have the contacts account of this @me.com, so if I want to reset my password which I do not remember now, I need to have an e-mail account to where apple would sent the e-mail with the appropriate link to reset the password. But, I do not have the possibility even to create again this mail account sine the password doesn't exist.

Worse, I have another alternative which is utilizing answers to security questions. So, I remember some of the answers but not all of them, so this way is blocked as well.

I need to reset the password to the @me.com and practically, I can't do it because the alternatives offered to me by apple are vey limited for me.

Any possible solution?

You can sign out of app store on the mac, then login to iCloud.com and remove the mac in the 'find iPhone' section. Click on the computer there and then click 'remove from my account' at the bottom of window.

This will break the link between computer and existing iCloud account. Then you can sign in via app store with the new apple ID you've created.
