Unable to receive updates on MacBook Air

For some unknown reason, the MacOS doesn't receive a system update. The problem can't be solved by downloading the latest version of MacOS.. When I try to download Mac OS, AppStore prompts me to go to the "Updates" tab, but there are no updates. It's also impossible to update iTunes automatically..
