How to upgrade from Mac OS 10.7.5

Hello!

I have never upgraded my operating system on my Mac until yesterday, when prompted about the MacOS Sierra.

The upgrade via the app store didn't work, I got an error message several times - after lengthy downloading sessions.

I have since reverted back to 10.7.5 but so much isn't compatible with it these days. I can't upgrade to Yosemite, the latest MacOS Sierra or El Capitan. See below details which show my computer details. It seems to indicate that it should be compatible:

Can someone advise what the best approach would be to upgrade?

Thank you in advance!

First, check if your model meets the requirements for Sierra:

The official list of Macs compatible with macOS Sierra:

2010 or Later

MacBook Air

MacBook Pro

Mac mini

Mac Pro

Late 2009 or Later

MacBook

iMac

Also, see The MacOS Sierra Compatibility List

Next, download the required installer. If your model does not meet the Sierra requirements then you can download El Capitan. Save a copy of the installer in your Downloads folder because the installer will automatically delete itself upon completion.

If you have tried several times without success, then tell us why it failed. Read Basic Steps for Upgrading OS X.
