The GUI says the file>print function is printing sorted by artist. But the resulting print is sorted by album title. I want it sorted by artist.
Any suggestions?

I could go to that effort. Or iTunes could do what it says it's going to do.
It's a recent problem. I have an album list I printed from iTunes in February that sorted by artist without problem. Apple has just broken it since then.
Spoke too soon. I missed 12.6.1.25 and got 12.6.1.26. Problem persists. Bizarrely, it printed properly yesterday when I still had 12.6.0. Just once, then it reverted to broken.
No idea what I did to make it work yesterday, or I'd repeat it.
Looks like this is fixed in 12.6.1.25.

I see the same as you. You could you copy data from the songs view into a spreadsheet, cut away the details you don't need, then group and sort to create a list of unique values for printing.
