I have had a few issues with this phone before. It tends to die at around 90% battery life and so i stared using an older phone. i left my iphone 6 for about a month and have now tried to recharge it again. however it simply shows this connect to itunes screen I have tried to restore and update the phone but the screen just goes white and then then this shows again. any tips anyone?

You can follow any one of the sets of instructions in this support article: If you see the Connect to iTunes, or you forgot your passcode, or your device is disabled - Apple Support.
You will have to erase the device in one of the three ways provided.

Make sure your pc is running the latest iTunes 12.6
Turn iPhone off
Connect lead to USB on your pc
Press & hold just the power button down on iPhone don't let go Connect lead to iPhone keep power button pressed down until pc sees ipad Then wait for restore you may need to do this more than once Before it works.
