the back and forward buttons have disappeared from Finder. I haven't done any update yesterday or today and can't find the option to restore it.
Any idea?

But have you tried just customizing toolbar? Maybe you "threw" the buttons out accidentally by holding command?
That is bizarre. Try a NVRAM reset:

If no success, I suggest a reinstall of the OSX.
