GPS in Nike Running App not working on Apple Watch Series 2 when NOT paired with iphone

I just brought home my new Apple Series 2 watch and tried running, without my iphone, using the Nike Plus app but the GPS will not work. I have tried turning off the blue-tooth from the iphone but the only data my Nike Run will show is elapsed time, not distance or pace. Please help because this was the main reason I bought the apple watch...to run without my iphone! Thanks!

Hi

The following steps may help:

On your iPhone, go to: Settings > Privacy > Location Services:

  • Check that Location Services (the main setting at the top) is turned on.
  • In the list of apps beneath, check that Apple Watch Workout and Nike+ Run Club are each set to While Using.
  • If each setting is already enabled:
    • Try briefly turning off Location Services and then turning it back on again.
    • Try briefly changing the setting for Apple Watch Workout and the Nike app to Never and then back to While Using.
  • Also enable options under System Services including Motion Calibration & Distance, Wi-Fi Networking and Mobile Network Search.

Restart both your iPhone and your Apple Watch (normally), turning both devices off together, then restarting your iPhone first:

If the issue persists, I suggest that you consult Nike's support resources and/or contact Nike for assistance with using their Nike+ Run Club app:
