My MacBook Pro is suddenly getting fake Adobe Flash update popups multiple times a day

I'm on a MacBook Pro running Yosemite.

Every time I use Chrome, I suddenly get a popup in a new window that prompts me to update my Flash player. The web address is clearly fake (oftentimes it's go.mobifoth.com and then it redirects to a clearly fake Adobe page before sending me over to another ad page). This also happens frequently when I try to open a new tab.

Here is one of the links it directs me to: http://lastworking.ourbestupgrade.bid./0Jgt4WqQUBv0tVeMUHniM0OyIkXbp6K22AbOLyi5H Oo./?&cid=322262454903&sid=1195625&v_id=…

And I've also attached a screenshot of what it looks like. I've gone into the Chrome Extensions and seen nothing there. I've looked for some rogue process in the Activity Monitor but I'm actually not sure what I should be looking for.

I have a habit of dismissing any Adobe Flash notification panel. However, I do look in the System Preferences : Flash Player panel. Select that Flash panel's updates tab, and this is what you should see:

I happen to have the (unnecessary for me) Adobe Pepper Flash (PPAPI) installed too — something I need to remove. I will continue to get legitimate Adobe reminders until both are updated. The Check Now button will let you know if you are current, or offer a link to the real, Adobe Flash site to download either of these Plug-in installers.

There is no post-installation reboot requirement. No browser, or System Preferences panel should be open during the Flash installation process.

If you have come across a fake Adobe Flash installation notice, and have not cleared your browser history, and cache, you will run into that bogus pop-up the next time you run your browser.

To me this seems like a very critical question that there is no good and easy to find answer for.

I have always had problems with flash. Not that it doesn't work, but that it so often calls for an

update. That got exceedingly ridiculous today when I followed what I usually do for a flash update

and went to the Adobe site, downloaded it, and installed it.

I rebooted the whole system and logged in. Within just a few moments I got the same message

about Flash being out of date ... but I checked and it was the highest up to date rev out there.

So, what is going on here?

When the notice pops-up and says I need to update the site it points me to is an Adobe site. It

is not like it is a fake, or if it is a fake, it is a great job because the URL seems to correctly end in

adobe.com?

Thank you, VikingOSX. I was having an issue with the second update

as your included image shows. I thought there was only one update.

I get so tired of these incessant Flash updates, and I don't think I even

have it enabled, is what also threw me.

I was thinking I had been hacked because there is a certain time on

Yahoo.Com that even without clicks or any kind of entry or interaction

my browser gets redirected to different ad sites. I am not sure that is

hacked so much as just redirected, but against my will with no action.

I've never thought I needed an anti-virus for Mac ... it's a Mac, but with

all the malicious and ransomware stuff out there who knows? Thanks.
