May 15th Security update 10.11.6 breaks Nvidia driver 346.03.15f07

Ive just installed the latest security update to 10.11.6 El Capitan today (dated 15th May 2017) and now my Nvidia card driver will not load / not supported so i have no CUDA support for Davinci Resolve and that will not load. Ive gone back to a clone from this morning to get around it but the security update seems to auto install again leaving only a Safari 10.1.1 update pending that i have choice over.

I am awaiting an Nvidia update or someone else to have this problem that might jog Nvidia into writing a new one.. any one else having this problem ? Im using latest Nvidia driver 346.03.15f07

anyone know a work around to avoid this security update ?

I cant upgrade to Sierra as im on a mac 4,1 which is not supported so i'm a bit stuck without replacing hardware again. I'm loath to buy an old 5,1 12 core especially if that wont go beyond 10.12 (probably)..

its probably time to buy a decent PC instead...

Mac Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.6), mac 4,1

Apple's security updates also update the 'build' number of the version of OS X nee macOS that you are running. Unfortunately each version of Nvidia web driver is for a single specific build number of OS X.

Therefore you need to also update the Nvidia web driver to the new version that matches the new version of OS X build number.

Nvidia are usually quite good at doing so soon after Apple issue their update but it might take them a day or to. In future always make sure you have the new Nvidia driver before installing the Apple security update or any other OS X update.

I don't think Nvidia have as yet issued their new versions for this update, so if you upgraded to Sierra 10.12.5 you would still be stuck.
