copy CD w/one superdrive

How to copy my music cd to another CD......

How would I copy my produced CD of music from one CD Superdrive on my Mac Book Pro (early 2011) to another CD (called a dupe) to send to a radio station.

I want to keep all he track info so when the person opens the CD the names/time/ etc will all be there.

I have one Superdrive in my Mac, I have tried iTunes, but that does not retain names and song data.

I am on macOS 10.12.4.

Thank you in advance for any useful information you can offer.

The help file I cited is out of date. Disk Utility help provides this guidance for creating the disk Image:

Create a disk image from a disk or connected device

Create a disk image that includes the data and free space on a physical disk or connected device, such as a USB device. For example, if a USB device or volume is 80 GB with 10 GB of data, the disk image will be 80 GB in size and include data and free space. You can then restore that disk image to another volume.

  1. Select a disk, volume, or connected device in the sidebar.
  2. Choose File > New Image, then choose “Image from [device name].”
  3. Enter a file name for the disk image, add tags if necessary, then choose where to save it.This is the name that appears in the Finder, where you save the disk image file before opening it.
  4. Click the Format pop-up menu, then choose an option:
    • Read-only: The disk image can’t be written to, and is quicker to create and open.
    • Compressed: Compresses data, so the disk image is smaller than the original data. The disk image is read-only.
    • Read/write: Allows you to add files to the disk image after it’s created.
    • DVD/CD master: Can be used with third-party apps. It includes a copy of all sectors of the disk image, whether they’re used or not. When you use a master disk image to create other DVDs or CDs, all data is copied exactly.
  5. To encrypt the disk image, click the Encryption pop-up menu, then choose an encryption option.
  6. Click Save, then click Done.Disk Utility creates the disk image file where you saved it in the Finder and mounts its disk icon on your desktop and in the Finder sidebar.

Important: Don’t create a disk image of a disk that you believe to be failing or that contains corrupted information. The disk image may not serve as a reliable backup.

For technical information about creating a restore disk image, see the Apple Software Restore (ASR) manual (man) page.

Hello, I have Utilities open, I insert the disc I want to copy,

It is called April 27, and the blue line is maxed and restore is NOT available.

User uploaded file

To complicate matters there is at the bottom of the left panel a DISK IMAGES/APPLE UDIF and I have NO idea what that is, I have no FLASH DRIVE connected

User uploaded file

and there is no eject button, now that is from left field.

To repeat, I can't Select April 27th for Restore, and now have an issue with some Flash Player 20mg disk image that I can't eject because it isn't in my USB....I know this is going away from the question I had and I would ignore the Flash Drive issue if I could proceed w/the disc copy.

If you have any further ideas at all on either issue please advise.

thank you

I am trying to update this thread, the problem is not solved,

however, I did manage to figure out that the APPLE UDIF Compressed User uploaded file

was FLASH Player, I uninstalled it and that is now longer showing up in Disk Manager.

However the link Disk Utility 12.x: Duplicate a disk, CD, or DVD that Grant offered is not acting as Grant said it would so I still am unable to copy my "personally professionally produced Music CD" to another CD with my one Superdrive.

If I could 'unsolved' this issue I would but I don't know how so if any one follows this to this point I could still use some help.

(how does one unsolved a solved problem?) Maybe a different forum question.

The mystery image was not ejectable through the finder, I found Flash Player in the Sys Folder and deleted it, shut down, did a restart and it is gone.

here is another larger screen shot of the Disk Utility info

User uploaded file

361.xx GB free, the Seagate and the WD are back up drives tethered via USB,

Again I say that when I put in the disk I want to dupe, I am not allowed to select restore as in this screen shot

User uploaded file

That is a commercial recording, not mine, but it's the same issue, when I put my disk in, restore and the other options offered are not available.

this operation can't be done on an optical disk.

So, I went back to your advice and reread this:
you need to have at least that much (and a little more) free space on your Hard drive

The disk I want to copy is only 589.xx MB

Still a mystery to me. Thanks for your input, for what ever reason, what I need to do, I can't do.

Again, with your help this problem is still OPEN but the thread says SOLVED< maybe my bad.

I have an appointment and must leave this issue till a later time.

In that space of time maybe the solution will appear.

Again, you didn't have to take all this time to help me so I am grateful for your effort.

Best of day to you,

The mystery Disk Image is a Mounted Image from the last update to Flash Player. You need to Eject it with the Finder, which will unmount it and free up about 20MB of space.

I can't quite read the sizes from your screen shot, but to use Recover, you need to have at least that much (and a little more) free space on your Hard drive. If you do not have at least enough to store the contents of the DVD, it cannot be Recovered to make the Master, and that option will be grayed out.

I have just returned to office, I hope this will enable me to 'copy' a music CD, and then burn it to send it to a radio station, as the disk I have of my material is the ONLY one I still have, all other are out of print.

The instructions seem to me to be about 'data', and I will be copying .aff files like one gets on a commercial music CD. So, it's late and I need to have clear head to attempt this, again, your assistance has been above reproach, or something like that (heard that once on a TV show).

This case is considered solved, maybe my bad button plucking but for the sake of success, I'll consider it open.

Good night from Minnesota and thanks again.
