Runkeeper Run Tracking and Apple Watch Steps

Got a bit of a question regarding my Apple Watch Series 1. I track my runs with Runkeeper, send the data to Apple Health, and then send all of that to MyFitness Pal.

My question regards counting steps. It appears that when I track a run with Runkeeper, it also regards those 'steps' as steps in Health. So it means in the activity app it'll say i went on a run for 4KM, but then separately say I did 4,500 steps or so.

I know when I had a fitbit, it would disregard the steps when I recorded an activity.

Is this something I should worry about? Is it essentially counting as twice as many steps?

Hi

Steps are tracked in addition to distance, as a separate metric.

The Heath app on your iPhone combines health and fitness data from Apple Watch, iPhone and any other data sources.

When doing so, it automatically adjusts the reported results to avoid any double-counting of the same type of data / same metric for the same period from different sources.

Thanks for your quick reply.

So just to clarify what this means...

In Health, I can see I did 5,843 steps. My walking and running distance is 5.9km. On MFP, it's saying I've done that many steps, and giving me a calorie adjustment, but it's also saying I did a 4.7km Run, and I'm getting calories for that. All of this information is being pulled in from Apple Healthkit.

That makes me thing it's reporting twice?
